Laborers’ Training Center is Hiring

The Laborers’ Training Center will be hiring two new instructors. Keep in mind that the instructors must be able to work at both the Chicago location (on Homer St. near Grand and Central) and the location in Carol Stream. Also keep in mind that the instructors pay into a different pension fund than laborers working for the City, County, or State. This means that you would keep whatever credits you have in your current pension fund, but start new in the fund that the instructors pay into. Let me know if you have questions on this or any other aspects of the position. Here are the prerequisites for the instructor positions:

-5 year member in good standing
-5 year experience in Environmental or Underground work
-Passion for teaching.mentoring
-Proficient in Math and Reading
-Good computer skills
-High School Diploma
-Valid Driver’s License
-30 Hour OSHA
-Excellent communication skills

Resumes will be accepted until 12:00 noon, November 10, 2017, and can be mailed or dropped off to:

Tom Nordeen
1200 Old Gary Avenue
Carol Stream, IL 60188
630-653-0006 x229

On November 15 in Carol Stream at 6:00 pm, the Training Center will host a light dinner and presentation to all members interested in the position to explain the position and the two year process it takes to become an ANSI Certified Instructor. After the meeting you will then be able to sign up for your interview.

A note from the Training Center is included below:
“Please keep in mind that this position is not a job but a career choice that will come with a lot of responsibility and expectations. It is by no means meant to be a precursor to retirement. Unless you are able to meet all of the responsibility and prerequisites listed above for this position, please do not submit a resume. The expectation for a start date would be January 8, 2018.”
